So there’s only so many times I could walk by this house and not try draw it. In search of a bit escapism last night I finally decided to give it a shot.
Possibly the most beautiful house in Clontarf within my 2km (in my “profession” opinion!)
So this Victorian period home is a semidetached property which dates back to the 1840s and together with its neighbour, these two homes are a tall and impressive pair. While a modest two storeys over garden level, in reality, it’s generous setback off the busy Howth Road is what intrigues me most!
It’s funny to think that this hidden gem is most likely never even noticed by passing motorists!
From the arched metal pedestrian gateway, to the stone pavers, followed by a gravel path beneath a cherry blossom canopy; only then does a visitor to such a home get to climb the steps to meet the front door. The door detail alone is worth talking about, complete with an elaborate glass fanlight overhead!
The journey through this threshold from street to entrance door is a magical one.. never mind what you may find beyond this hall door!
